Kristinia Opens for Britney Spears

Grammy-winning artist and new singer will open for when her Circus concert returns to Canada and North America. The news is confirmed by Britney herself on her official website.

Ciara has served as the opening act for Britney when the "Womanizer" hitmaker made a stop in London for a live concert earlier this month. As for Kristinia, the daughter of 80's pop star James DeBarge, this will be her first time to accompany Britney on the road.

"Joining Britney Spears for her 'Circus' tour will be an amazing and surreal experience for me," Kristinia revealed her thought concerning the opening gig. "I have been dreaming of an opportunity like this forever, and can't wait."

Ciara also shared the same excitement when she was signed to open for Britney in London. "I'm looking forward to sharing the stage and rocking out with Brit. I've got some amazing outfits to rival her own," Ciara said. "The round Circus-themed stage is so much work as you really have to make full use of the space. But I'm definitely going to give you 100 per cent in effort and energy."

Britney Spears will bring in her Circus entourage back to Canada and North America to promote her latest studio album "Circus", starting from August 20 through September 27. Before that, she has to make one last stop at O2 World in Berlin, Germany on June 26.

Kristinia At Seventeen Magazine

Kristinia DeBarge stopped by Seventeen's office to give us a sneak peek of her new single, "Goodbye." She also talked about her five diaries, her love for archeology, and the options for her second hit!

17: What's the concept for your "Goodbye" video?
Kristinia DeBarge: It's young, fun, and sexy. It starts off with me and my girlfriends just being mischievous. We're checking out whether my ex-boyfriend is home, because we're about to steal his car. The car in the video is a 1996 convertible Mustang, and it's red! I had to get a classic in there, since a new car is just what you'd expect. I worked out really hard to be in good shape for the video, too. My best friend is in the passenger seat with me, and everyone at the house are my friends. It gives the video more energy. And the whole thing is choreographed by Jamaica — she's worked with Keri Hilson, Ciara, and Usher.

17: When does the album come out?
KD: It's now coming out in the second week of July. We're in the process of figuring out a second single. It has to be such a monster so it has a good follow-up. There's a song called "Powerless" that I just recorded, I'm really crazy about it. There's another song I'm absolutely crazy about called "Sabotage." Then I haven't recorded this song yet, but it's called "Anti-Love," and I'm really excited about recording that.

17: Tell us a little bit about how you got started.
KD:
I've been singing since I was 3 years old, and I started taking it seriously at age 12. So my dad, also a musician (he's R&B singer James DeBarge!), took me to a studio one night. We recorded a duet until 4 a.m., and when I still wanted to record another song after that, he knew I really wanted to sing professionally. I tried out for American Juniors at age 13, but was booted off after making it to the Top 20. It was actually a blessing in disguise — a lot of different producers started contacting me. After touring with my dad, I worked with Baby Face's nephew and eventually with Baby Face. I was signed to Def Jam two days before my 19th birthday, which was a great birthday present!

17: Is going to college something you eventually want to pursue?
KD
: If I weren't a singer, I would be a biblical archaeologist. I think it's so interesting — anything where I'm traveling the world and studying about history. I love going to museums — my mom is big book nerd, so she got me into all of that.

17: What are some of your hobbies?
KD:
All I have time for is hanging out with friends and family. But I've been writing in my diary since I was 14 every night before I go to bed, whether it's just a sentence or three pages. I feel it's important because it's my way of reflecting, and it's therapeutic. I want to eventually write a book based on my experiences and my diaries — I have five of them now. It would be a good way to give insight to aspiring singers.
